ARGIANO BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2018 NAMED 2023 "WINE OF THE YEAR"

Argiano Brunello di Montalcino 2018 named Wine Spectator’s 2023 “Wine of the Year” and Ratti Barbera d'Asti Battaglione 2021 makes “Top 100”

Please join me and our Maze Row team in congratulating Argiano for winning the Wine Spectator 2023 “Wine of the Year” for the Tuscan estate’s Brunello di Montalcino 2018.

The award acknowledges André Esteves’ commitment to the future of Argiano, and is a testament to Bernardino Sani’s many talents. Under his leadership, the historic Montalcino winery has been reaching some of its highest highs since its founding in 1580.

Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator senior editor, writes: “For its traditional expression of Brunello, its quality and its value, Argiano Brunello di Montalcino 2018 is not only a leading representation of the region, it’s our Wine of the Year.”

This is our first “Wine of the Year” in the Maze Row portfolio, and with continued focus on building long term equity across our portfolio, I am confident more recognition and accolades will follow.

We would also like to congratulate Pietro Ratti and his team for the Barbera d'Asti Battaglione 2021 gaining 47th position on Wine Spectator’s “Top 100 Wines” of 2023.

Sanderson praises the wine, writing it “shows depth, along with a silky texture and flavor of black cherry, blackberry, violet and dark chocolate. Suave, concentrated and long, with a touch of heat that lingers. Drink now through 2028.” We couldn’t agree more.

I would like to thank our team at Maze Row, and acknowledge our supply chain and global sourcing partners for all their support.
